Yesterday a group of volonteers jumped the fences at the Beykoz shelter.
We counted the dogs… both in the kennels and in the forest area in the back.
There are over 400 dogs missing. 400. We have heard exagerated reports of 1400 dogs being killed.
There is no need to exagerate. The amount is brutal and tragic enough. 400.
On the other hand our 6.000 USD Reward has already started bringing in a flurry of calls. Judging by the number of calls and men trying to clain the award it seems that most municipal employees are fully aware of what is going on. We have received several offers for information as well as several graphic doccuments that are currently being evaluated by our people. So far we have achieved one thing.. all eyes are on İhsan Öksüz.
International Outcry
Whilst Ergul and İhsan Öksüz are still licking their fingers from all that fresh blood the international outcry turns into a huge public relations blunder.
On Tuesday, a diplomatic delegation paid a visit to Muharrem Ergul.. the content of the conversations has not been disclosed but what we DO know is that Ergul quickly rushed to the Beykoz shelter to personally oversee the situation there. The image of an elected official rushing to a dog shelter to try to cover up a dog massacre is somewhat telling.
On Wednesday morning.. 11 hrs New York Time, the NY representative of our organization paid a visit to the Turkish Consul and delivered a full report by diplomatic pouch to the Turkish Ambassador to Washington, H.E. Nabil Sensoy. Ambassador Sensoy has been made aware of the catastrophic situation currently taking place in Istanbul. In our view Ambassador Sensoy will do one of the following:
a) Issue an official communique trying to diffuse the incident (common practice in crimes of this nature)
b) Contact the Ministry of FFAA in Ankara with the embarrassing news that the actions of a homicidal Major and his criminal underlings have reached New York, Washington and that Press all over the world is picking on the issue.
We are currently working with a Belgium team preparing a report to be published in Brussels. This report will bring out a lot of red faces in Beykoz. We believe someone is going to have some very serious explaning to do..
Every action has a reaction. The Media onslaught will continue.
Ergul has won his gold medal already.
İhsan Öksüz carreer will forever be marked by this event.
