Through our web site and before all of you, we are demanding today that Ihsan OKSUZ, who has for over three months now “taken over” the Beykoz Shelter in his own words, make a public statement as to what kind of progress there has been at the shelter within this time period.
YES, Mr. IHSAN, what kind of progress have you registered in controlling the stray dog population in Beykoz?
How many dogs have been neutered in the past 3 months as required under the Animal Protection Act 5199?
For three months now, you have access to the Beykoz shelter operating room, which, thanks to the efforts of volunteers, is the best-equipped one in Istanbul.
At the time there were 2 vets, a much smaller workforce than you claim to be employing now and volunteers, 20 dogs were neutered a day at the shelter? What is this number now?
On the one hand, the mayor of Beykoz is pronouncing a preposterous figure like 20.000 when he is discussing the number of stray dogs in the area – as if every single one of these is a source of income for them – , and his deputy who took over the shelter is not making full use of the shelter’s capacity on the other!
It is widely acknowledged that you need to “donate” to a municipality to get your stuff done.
Given that you have an advantageous position when it comes to collecting donations according to one animal welfare organization, can you declare the exact amount of donations you collected to this day for the shelter and the dogs in there Mr. IHSAN?
You have issued press statements accusing volunteers of improper fundraising! Well, if you are raising funds yourself, here is your chance to come clean and declare that figure unless you raised them improperly that is!
The volunteers you implicated in this have registered every single penny they received and spent in their official accounts. These have been regularly audited by the Department of Associations and the Ministry of Finance.
Who is auditing your books? How can we find out about your expenditures? Unless there is anything to hide, can you declare them yourself?
We would like to also let you know that you declined an offer of dry food for your shelter by someone who needed to get something done at your municipality and demanded computers and stuff in lieu of food.
You have deliberately defamed individuals who have in fact been setting an example to follow by encouraging others around them to help animals.
This is something akin to treason.
You should know that we will keep informing the public about your misdoings and never give up.
